Nelson Piquet was racing in fourth position when the Brazilian spun off. He was one of the many drivers who was unable to keep the car on track in the extremely slippery conditions. Even though Piquet is disappointed not to score any points he is glad he could show he can be competitive.

British GP: Race notes - Toyota

Ron Dennis was extremely proud to see his driver Lewis Hamilton win Sunday's British Grand Prix. According to the McLaren team boss Hamilton won a special race for himself and the team in an eventful race.

Heikki Kovalainen was unable to turn his pole position into a podium finish. After leading the race at the start he was unable to keep team mate Lewis Hamilton behind him. Kovalainen spun twice but did manage to finish fourth in the end.

British GP: Race notes - Force India

McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. After an eventful race over 60 laps in changeable weather conditions, he lapped all but two drivers and came home 68.5sec ahead of Nick Heidfeld in second place.

After a flawless drive and numerous good overtaking manoeuvres Nick Heidfeld took second place for the BMW Sauber F1 Team in what was a wet and fairly chaotic British Grand Prix. This was his third runner-up spot of the season, and the team's seventh podium. While everything, including the right tyre choice at each pit stop, paid off for Heidfeld, his team mate Robert Kubica slid off the slippery track after his second pit stop.

Rubens Barrichello heeft er drie jaar op moeten wachten, maar hij wist in Silverstone weer een podiumplek te behalen. Het was zijn eerste sinds de Grand Prix van Indianapolis in 2005. De gok van Honda om tijdens de zware regenperiode op regenbanden over te stappen in plaats van intermediates pakte goed uit, waardoor Barrichello zich wist op te werken naar een derde positie.

England expects, Hamilton delivers

Lewis Hamilton has won his home Grand Prix. Hamilton finished over a minute ahead of Nick Heidfeld and Rubens Barrichello who joined the Briton on the podium. Ferrari drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa struggled in the extreme difficult conditions as they finished fourth and 13th.
