England expects, Hamilton delivers

Lewis Hamilton has won his home Grand Prix. Hamilton finished over a minute ahead of Nick Heidfeld and Rubens Barrichello who joined the Briton on the podium. Ferrari drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa struggled in the extreme difficult conditions as they finished fourth and 13th.

Briton Lewis Hamilton brilliantly handles the wet conditions at Silverstone to win his first British Grand Prix.

Silverstone - Race 2 Result

According to Donington Park chief executive Simon Gillett the track will be ready to host the British Grand Prix in 2010. Before the track can host the race it will undergo a £100m facelift to bring it up to standard and Gillett has dismissed fears that it will not be ready in time.

Heikki Kovalainen starts from pole position at the British GP ahead of Mark Webber, with Lewis Hamilton fourth.

Donington boss insists track will be ready for 2010
