Mercedes F1 boss Norbert Haug says that the current internal competition between Alonso and Hamilton has been good for the team,
Fernando Alonso said he was surprised to be quickest at Indianapolis on Friday, because he has never felt truly at home at the home of the USGP.
Norbert Haug has downplayed speculation that the McLaren team is suffering from friction between the team's two drivers Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. The Spaniard is said to feel isolated within the camp after Hamilton's dream start and supposed conflict has been hyped on the back pages of national newspapers in Britain. However, the vice president of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport believes that the level of competition between the two is perfectly healthy and that the results on the track should speak for themselves.
Frank Williams believes the Williams team is back on track this season after a disastrous 2006 campaign where the team finished eighth in the constructors' championship. This season the team has already amassed more points (13) than it did the whole of last year (11) and is sitting fifth in the points standings.
