Friday was the first time Michael Schumacher touched tarmac with a Formula One car at a Grand Prix weekend since his heart-breaking retirement in Suzuka, which all but certainly crushed the dream finish to his career of collecting an eighth drivers' championship title. 16 years at the pinnacle of the sport and day one of his last Grand Prix ended with the German just a tenth faster than his title rival Fernando Alonso. Despite giving up hope of one final title, Schumacher will be clinging to the chance of tying up his long golden bow with one last victory. 

The Super Aguri team made a good start to the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix weekend at Interlagos today. The team completed its planned Friday testing programme with the team's third driver, Franck Montagny, setting the 8th fastest time of the day on his last outing for the team, a 1:13.792.
