BMW Sauber technical director Willy Rampf says getting a high enough top speed is the key to overtaking at the Istanbul circuit. After its summer break, F1 is gearing up for the final five races of the season which kick off with next weekend's Turkish Grand Prix.

This time and speed edges the previous record of 1:07.722 set by Helio Castroneves at the CART Honda Grand Prix of Monterey in 2000. Castroneves' speed was 118.969.

After the summer break BMW is still on a high following its first podium finish as a team owner. Team boss Mario Theissen says the team didn't plan on getting a podium finish until next season.
