Having announced his long anticipated retirement from Formula One, Michael Schumacher says the path is now clear for him to focus compeltely on the only thing that matters to him any more in F1 - securing his eighth drivers' title.

After the Italian Grand Prix, all the attention went to Michael Schumacher. But Robert Kubica had an outstanding day at Monza. The Polish driver was next to Schumacher on the podium having finished third in his third Grand Prix. F1Racing.net reporter Stijn Keuris talked to him, before the race in Italy.

Reflecting on his victory at Monza, Michael Schumacher was full of smiles. "It was an indescribable day. I think I did the right think saying that I would retire having won," Schumacher said.

Christian Klien's decision not to accept the offer of a Red Bull-sponsored Champ Car drive in 2007 with Kevin Kalhoven's PKV Racing has opened the way for Scuderia Toro Rosso test driver Neel Jani to head off to America, where he hopes he will finally get his name in lights and use success in America to return one day to F1.

Ferrari wasted no time getting back on track following the Italian Grand Prix as the test team kicked off this week's development activity at the team's private Fiorano circuit in Italy. 

Red Bull Racing is going to have an interesting time in Jerez this week, following the departure of Christian Klien. The team will be running his replacement Robert Doornbos, the likely third driver Michael Ammermueller and, curiously, Tonio Liuzzi of Scuderia Toro Rosso.
