The F1.07 is the first genuine BMW Sauber. Whereas for last year's car numerous components had already been designed when BMW resolved to buy the majority shareholding in Sauber in June 2005, the F1.07 was a co- production from its inception. Those responsible for the chassis in Hinwil and their colleagues in Munich handling the power-train (i.e. the engine and transmission) and the electronics, jointly laid down priorities and created a harmonious overall package. Work on the concept for the F1.07 began in April 2006.

BMW believes that it has the perfect blend of experience and youthful talent in its driver line-up to move the team up the grid. BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen believes that whilst Nick Heidfeld, who turns 30 this year, is the right man to lead the team, Robert Kubica, who came third in only his third Grand Prix last season at Monza, is only going to get better. Furthermore, with talented youngsters Sebastian Vettel and Timo Glock waiting in the wings, the future looks bright for the Hinwil-based team.

Details of the planned street circuit in Singapore are now beginning to leak out with the route proposed by Hermann Tilke. It will run through the parkland of the Civic District and around the Suntec City area, where there are a number of big hotels.

After a good Formula One debut year (fifth in the constructors' championship with 36 points), the BMW Sauber F1 Team is ready to take its next step in 2007. This coming season will see the newly established team pursue the development agenda it has embarked on. The target is clear: securing more podium places in 2007.

The new BMW Sauber F1.07 has been unveiled in Valencia this morning with the Hinwil-based team keen to score regular podium finishes in F1 this year.
