I’m looking forward to the first F1 night race in Singapore on the 28th of September this year. The lighting has been tested, the plans have been made but my question is how will it change the GrandPrix experience? As I understand it the prime motivation of having a night race in this market is to give a better live race time for North America and Europe for the TV markets.
How will it affect the drivers and teams? I’m really curious to see how things go. I guess we’ll find out on the 28th.
So, do you think the night race is opening a new exciting chapter in F1 or do you think it’s a waste of time gimmick?

Well, It looks like McLaren and Lewis Hamilton are off to a good start. With Lewis on the pole and his teammate just behind it looks like a good starting position for the first race of the 2008 season.
Will Lewis shine again this season without Fernando Alonso on his team? Only time will tell, but it looks like things are off to a great start for McLaren this year. I guess we’ll just have to see how the race goes tomorrow.
BMW is looking very strong too, perhaps it will be at least a 3 way challenge this year.

After completing the first round of testing in the new 2008 F1 Car, the MP4-23, Lewis seems very positive about the new car. With this season removing some driver aids like traction control it will be interesting to see if Lewis has the raw talent to keep up his amazing performance.

I just noticed that the new Force India F1 team has their offical site up at: http://www.forceindiaf1.com/
Looks like a pretty nice site you might want to check it out if you are interested in the Force India F1 team.

I have only one thing to say about the return of slick tires in F1. Yes!
It’s always seemed to me a bit odd to have such a single purpose machine as an F1 race car forced to run on grooved tires. Three cheers for the return of slick tires to F1.
Bring back slick tires, get rid of traction control and drivers aids, go back to manual shifting and then maybe we’ll be back to seeing who are the really skilled drivers.
