It would seem that Jacques Villeneuve is still trying to make it to NASCAR. According to the Toronto sun Pollock is ‘very close’ to securing title sponsorship for Jacques’ entry into the series.
Craig Pollock commented. “His challenge is to go into something totally different and he’s absolutely determined that that is going to be NASCAR.”
Well, I guess we will just have to see if he gets his act together this time. I’m still not sure I want to see F1 drivers heading to NASCAR but if that is where the money is then it is not surprising some drivers without an F1 seat may look in that direction.

It looks like the ever shrinking GPMA has lost another member. According to a statement ….
“Renault believes that in order to achieve constructive dialogue with the FIA on the future direction of the sport, it is important to work in consultation with all manufacturers participating in Formula One, including Ferrari and Toyota”
I guess the tension between the constructors and the sport’s governing body is slowly fading away. Does anyone really think the GPMA actually accomplished it’s goals?

It looks like the F1 machine may be moving toward some night racing. According to Hermann Tilke, F1 track designer, there is no reason why it can’t be done. He says that the biggest problem is lighting and more specifically lighting that is bright enough for the TV cameras. TV cameras need fairly bright lights to give a good quality picture, especially where fast moving things like Formula One cars are concerned. The camera and lighting technologies have advanced a fair amount over the last few years and it looks like it is to the point where an F1 race at night might just be possible.
Personally, I would love to see a night F1 race! What do you folks thing? Is an F1 race at night something you would like to see?

Ralf Schumacher tried out Toyota’s new seamless shift gearbox today and it would seem Ralfie likes it.
Ralf thinks it is a definite step forward. I was already under the impression the a modern F1 sequential gearbox was already pretty seamless. Does anyone know what makes this new transmission so special? Is it really seamless as in CVT or is it just smoother shifting?

I decided to put together a collection of images of the new 2007 F1 car line-up. I figured it would be nice to have them all here in one place. There are a couple of small teams missing that have yet to unveil their cars. Here are pictures of each team’s new 2007 cars.
Just click the thumbnails for a full size image.
First, we have the BMW Sauber for 2007.

Next we have the 2007 Ferrari F1 car…

Now the Spyker 2007 machine …

Next is the hot-looking Williams FW29 for 2007…

My personal favourite, the McLaren MP4-22 for 2007 …

Last year’s winning team has come up with the Renault R27 for the 2007 season …

Next we have the very dark Honda RA107, Darth Vader’s car? …

Here is the sharp-looking Red Bull RB3 F1 car for 2007 …

And finally, the Toyota TF107 to round out the field…

I can’t wait to see all these amazing cars on the track in just over 30 days in Australia.
