It looks like the new Red Tire Rule that was confirmed needs a little clarification. Although the rules state that each team must use both compounds during a race there is a question as to if the tires will actually have a red stripe.
Bridgestone says they have had no formal instructions from Formula One regarding this. Currently it would seem that there will be a requirement to run both types but the pretty red stripe may be missing.

It looks like Fernando Alonso has landed himself a sweet company car. The $600,000 Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR 722 is a sweet sweet ride. With 650 horsepower and a top speed of 337 kph or 209 mph it is certainly a company car for someone like Fernando.
Here is a picture of the McLaren SLR for your enjoyment…

McLaren and FedEx are announcing a long term partnership agreement. FedEx will become McLaren’s official logistics partner.

This partnership will bring McLaren the benefit of the huge FedEx international logistics machine. In return FedEx gets to display their logo on the drivers collars. Fedex should prove to be a very beneficial partner for the McLaren F1 team.

The Ferrari F2007, the new car for the 2007 season is boasting a fancy new quick shift gear box that is supposed to reduce the speed lost with each gear change. They claim it works in all conditions and for all shifts.
Sounds to me like something that will either give them a slight edge or fail miserably due to reliability problems.
This is what I love about F1 though, having the teams push the technology to the limit. I wasn’t aware that the already amazing semi-auto gearboxes on F1 cars were too slow in their shifts but I guess every split second helps.

Recent reports are saying that all the teams have agreed to the ‘Red Tire’ rule for the 2007 Season.
What this means is that there will be two compounds at each race and the teams will be required to run both at some point of the race. Additionally the tires may be identified with a red stripe so the fans can see when their teams are running with the softer Red tire and is hoped to provide another source of excitement to the sport.

It will certainly add another point to debate when it comes to the results of each race and how any particular teams use of the two compounds affected the outcome.
I think the red strips will look nice on the Ferrari.
