Toro Rosso and Super Aguri Sharing too much?

December 10th, 2006

I have been hearing a bit about ‘Chassis Sharing’ being a potential issue this coming season. It would seem that both Torro Rosso and Super Aguri are being warned that if they choose to run ‘Customer Chassis’ they may be in line for some serious legal action from the other teams.

The issue seems to revolve around the fact that the Super Aguri Chassis is made in the Honda facility. The rules state that each team must own the Intellectual property rights for their car and that it must not include any parts manufactured by another team.

Super Aguri insists that the car they will run is not simply a modification of the Honda RA106 and that they are in full compliance with the current regulations.

It also seems to be that ‘Chassis sharing’ will be permitted in some form starting in 2008 but not in the 2007 season.

A potential compromise has been proposed according to reports that they can use this ‘Customer Chassis’ but forfeit constructor points and TV revenue.

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out as we approach the start of the 2007 season.

Michael Schumacher Kills Formula One?

December 9th, 2006

I was hearing today that some people think now that Michael Schumacher has retired there will be a massive loss of interest in F1. I’m not sure I agree with that. The claim is that with Michael gone people just won’t bother getting up early to watch a race.

I think this idea is complete crap. While it’s true there are a lot of Shumacher fans, most of them are also huge Ferrari fans too. I think they will be getting up to see the bright red cars run regardless of who is driving them.

I also think that most F1 fans will find new heros behind the wheel of a formula one car in no time.

Personally, I never really like Michael. Granted, he was a very talented driver but I just could not get behind his win at all costs attitude, no matter who he has to cheat to do it.

I think Formula one will be just fine without Micahel Schumacher.

Lewis Hamilton still fast on rainy day in Jerez

December 8th, 2006

While not the fastest on the track during the final day of testing at Jerez he did manage a respectable third fastest on the rain soaked track friday. He was only 3 tenths of a second slower than the fastest man, Barrichello in his honda ride.

It’s still looking to me like Lewis Hamilton has some speed in him and the McLaren car has the ability so far….

I really want to see Alonso in the car and see just what he can do with the Mclaren package.

Lewis Hamilton is Fast Fast Fast Today

December 7th, 2006

It looks like Lewis Hamilton is showing his speed at Jerez. After a day of lapping Lewis was top of the charts. It is starting to look like the McLaren has some serious speed potential. Lewis was a full second faster than the second place car of Fisichella and his Renault.

I can’t wait to see what Fernando Alonso is going to do with the McLaren under him.
