Ok. So first it was that Renault would not let Alonso drive a McLaren car until next year because his contract expires December 31st 2006. Next I hear Renault saying “Gee, Nobody asked us if he could go test, It’s not like we would stop him, but nobody asked”.

Next thing I hear, Alonso is in the Mclaren Formula one car at Jerez testing. I guess someone asked and Renault said “Sure, no problem”. I’m thinking, Good for Renault.
Next, All I’m seeing is how McLaren didn’t let Kimi out of his contract to test. Now I’m thinking how nasty it is to expect Renault to let Alonso come and test but you won’t let Kimi go to his new team. How Evil is Mclaren?
Now I’m hearing that Mclaren had to pay Renault $2.6 Million to have Alonso for the day so it wasn’t just Renault being nice after all.
Now, I don’t know if Renault is Evil, Or McLaren is Evil or neither or both ….
What I do know is I wish someone would pay me $2.6 Million for a day of my time.

I was just reading a really interesting race transcript from the Brazil Grand Prix of the Renault teams communication with the drivers for the entire race. It was an interesting read but it raised a question for me.
The transcript is available here at F1-Live and mentions several times where the team is asking Fernando Alonso for an “Oil bomb please”. My question is what the heck is it? Why do they want Alonso to do it and what happens if he doesn’t?
Are there any F1 technical types out there that can explain it?

I’m a tech geek and I had not heard of the intention to use WiMAX in Formula One cars.
First I hear of it is when I read that Bernie Ecclestone is holding up its use in the F1 Cars. I think he is probably more worried about what it will cost him to install it at all the tracks.
It would seem that BMW is keen to see it installed… of course they are sponsored by Intel … and Intel wants WiMAX in Formula One.

It’s looking like Lewis Hamilton is doing well in his new Formula 1 seat. On the final day of testing at Jerez he was top of the lap times.
It’s starting to look like it’s going to be very interesting to watch Lewis and Fernando Alonso working the McLaren cars in 2007.
Maybe this will be the season McLaren gets back on top.

It looks like Fernando Alonso finally got to climb into the McLaren today at Jerez. With a plain white helmet and no sponsors on the car it was like a descreet plain brown wrapper for Fernando’s McLaren Debut.
What I’d really like to see are some lap times. Anyone?
