Free Fernando Alonso!

December 7th, 2006

It looks like Fernando Alonso is hoping to be released from his contract with Renault early so he can get some time in the McLaren car before the new year.

His contract with Renault lasts until December 31st of 2006 but McLaren feels that after all he has done for Renault they should let him go early so he can get some time in the car in the next pre-Xmas testing sessions.

Personally, I don’t see any reason why Renault would not release him unless they just want to be jerks about it. Alonso hasn’t seen any track time since the last race of the season and with the switch to a new car, new tires and a new team he really should be given the chance to get some time in the car.

Come on Renault, Free Fernando!
