France’s Jean-Eric Vergne has extended his championship lead courtesy of a victory in the first of three races at Rockingham. Having started third, the Carlin driver fought his way to the front and eventually led home Columbia’s Carlos Huertas by just two tenths of a second.

Britain’s Justin Wilson has registered the quickest lap time in the final practice session before qualifying on the streets of Toronto. The Dreyer & Reinbold driver recorded a best effort of 1:01.183, almost three tenths of a second faster than second-placed man E.J. Viso, with quickest Friday driver Ryan-Hunter Reay in third.

Jorge Lorenzo took his fourth consecutive pole of the 2010 campaign with the top time in qualifying for the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, setting a fastest lap of 1’21.817 on Saturday. The Championship leader had a dramatic session, in which an oil spill from his M1 resulted in a red flag after crashes for Ben Spies and Randy de Puniet, but he went on to ensure he will go for a fourth straight win from top spot on the grid on Sunday.
