Dean Stoneman took a commanding victory in the second race in Portugal, the Briton jumping Jolyon Palmer from the start and setting a relentless pace to eventually clinch his third win of the year by just over four seconds.

In Budapest, which played host to 135,000 spectators this weekend, Fortec Motorsport’s Sten Pentus claimed his second win of the season. At the end of a reliable drive, the Estonian finished ahead of Epsilon Euskadi’s Albert Costa and Carlin’s Mikhail Aleshin. The Russian can afford to take a breather during the summer break, as he finishes the first half of the season with an eleven-point lead over Tech 1 Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo, who today finished 6th.

Jorge Lorenzo became the first Yamaha rider to win three successive premier class races from pole position since Eddie Lawson did so in 1986 when he took his fifth win of the 2010 campaign at the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya on Sunday. The Spanish rider is now 52 points clear at the top as he continued his phenomenal run of form in taking his second win on home soil this season. 

Bottas grabs maiden Euro Series win

After two victories in the Masters of Formula 3, Valtteri Bottas (ART Grand Prix) finally has scored his maiden race win in the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 2.3 kilometres long Norisring. The Finn, who was the best-placed rookie in last year's standings, was accompanied on the podium by Marco Wittmann (Signature) and Edoardo Mortara (Signature). After his seventh podium finish of the season, Mortara remains the points' leader. For a few metres, António Félix da Costa (Motopark Academy) led the race, but then, Roberto Merhi (Mücke Motorsport) took over first place. Soon after that, the Spaniard was overtaken by Alexander Sims (ART Grand Prix), who then led until the 21st lap. Valtteri Bottas overtook him and the Brit also failed to keep  Wittmann and Mortara behind him. Eventually, Sims was classified fourth.

Pedrosa leads warm up session at Barcelona

Dani Pedrosa led the timesheet in the warm up ahead of the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya on Sunday morning, with a lap of 1’42.864 in considerably cooler conditions than yesterday. The Spaniard was joined under the 1’43” mark by Casey Stoner (Ducati Team), who at 0.072s off his pace was the second and final rider in the 1’42” bracket.
