The Force India Formula One Team started its Turkish Grand Prix challenge today with two one and a half hour practice sessions at a chilly and overcast Istanbul Park. Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil both completed 23 laps in the morning, recording the 15th and 14th quickest times respectively. Unfortunately however Giancarlo was just seconds early in exiting the pit lane at the start of the session - crossing the line just a fraction before the red light - and was handed a three-place grid penalty for the race.

Something of an up and down day for Ferrari, in the first two free practice sessions for the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park. Felipe Massa was fastest in the morning, with Kimi Raikkonen topping the afternoon time sheet. However, the reigning world champion had to sit out practically all the morning session because of a gearbox problem.

Jarno Trulli finished Friday practice seventh overall while Toyota team mate Timo Glock enjoyed a competitive day ending up in twelfth.
Williams' Kazuki Nakajima and Nico Rosberg closed Friday's free practice sessions for the Turkish Grand Prix in 8th and 13th places respectively, using the track time available to evaluate set-up direction. Running was somewhat restricted today, a result of Istanbul's cooler May conditions and a damp track at the start of both sessions.
Renault Team began its preparations for the Turkish Grand Prix today as both Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet completed trouble-free practice sessions. Track conditions were poor with low temperatures contributing towards a low-grip surface and a lunchtime rain shower giving a damp start for the afternoon session. Despite this the team was able to complete a productive day's work to leave the team hopeful of a competitive performance in tomorrow's qualifying session.
The Toro Rossos of Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Bourdais were encouraged, but looking for more pace in Turkey after they finished free practice seventeenth and eighteenth overall.
Honda worked through a detailed set-up programme with both RA108 cars, honing the aerodynamic package to the demands of the 5.338km track. They ran reliably throughout the two 1.5-hour sessions, providing Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello with a good baseline from which to progress through the remainder of the race weekend.

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen finished Friday's second free practice for the Turkish Grand Prix in Istanbul in second and fifth positions respectively. Hamilton completed 31 laps and set a best time of 1.27.579 and was 36 thousandths of a second behind the fastest lap of the afternoon. Kovalainen did 27 laps and did 1.27.954. In the morning session, Heikki was second fastest with a 1.27.456 (17 laps) and Lewis ended up third with a 1.27.752 (15 laps).
At the BMW Sauber F1 team the Turkish Grand Prix weekend didn't start as well as the team would have hoped for. Kubica faced a problem with his rear suspension in the morning, while Heidfeld complained about his tyre temperatures.

Force India F1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella has received a three-place grid penalty for Sunday's Turkish Grand Prix. The Italian was the first driver to go out on track Friday morning but missed that the lights were still turned red.

Codemasters secures rights to F1 game licence
Codemasters has revealed they've got access to the coveted F1 licence, and will use it to develop a title based on the 2009 F1 season. The game will be released on 360 and PS3 as well as unspecified handhelds and PC. They boast their game will be the first to have Lewis Hamilton make an apparence in it.
Nick Heidfeld believes the safety car rules should be changed, as, according to the current rules, drivers are not allowed to enter the pitlane for fuel while the safety car is out. Heidfeld was forced to refuel under the safety car two weeks ago and was punished with a drive-through penalty in the Spanish Grand Prix for doing so.

Ferrari F1 driver Felipe Massa completed Friday morning's fastest lap in Istanbul Park. The Brazilian showed he is ready to fight for a third win in a row in Turkey by setting the fastest time of the day at 1.27.323. He was just ahead of recovered McLaren driver Heikki Kovalainen and his team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

Massa quickest as Raikkonen falters
Weather forecasts predict perfect conditions for the Formula 1 drivers in Istanbul. This weekend's temperatures won't get much higher than 20 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday there is a small risk of light rain showers but the rest of the weekend should remain dry.
Fresh from three points and a sixth place finish in the Spanish Grand Prix, Jenson Button is aiming for more points this weekend, but acknowledged that if Ferrari, McLaren and BMW stay reliable, it will be difficult to do much better than seventh.
Lewis Hamilton says he is missing the feeling of being a Grand Prix winner after rivals Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen have sealed the last three F1 victories in Malaysia, Bahrain and Spain. The Italian squad is again the favourite ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix.
