50 per cent chance of rain on race day

Concerns about the weather at Sepang caused a number of teams to complete their qualifying laps earlier than they would have liked, guarding against being impacted by the rain which fell suddenly and heavily in the GP2 Asia race after qualifying on Saturday.

McLaren accepts grid penalty

Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton will start Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix from eighth and ninth position respectively after both drivers were given a five grid position penalty. The McLaren team has said in a statement that they accept the stewards' decision but also stated that its drivers did not block the other drivers deliberately.

McLaren Mercedes drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton will start Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang Circuit from the second row of the grid. Heikki was third fastest with a time of 1m36.613 whilst Lewis's time of 1m36.709 means that he will start from fourth.
