Giancarlo Fisichella brought the Force India Formula One Team's penultimate 2008 winter test to a close today in Jerez, southern Spain. Once more the Italian showed the continuing progress of the team as he put in a string of competitive times to finish the day 11th quickest of the 16 runners.

Kovalainen quickest on final day

Renault was on track today to complete the final day of testing at the Circuito de Jerez in the south of Spain. The team was again operating a two-car programme with two R28s in action as preparations continue ahead of the opening Grand Prix in Melbourne next month.

McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen rounded off the Jerez test with the week's fastest time, while both Red Bull and Williams continued to impress on Thursday.

On the final day of this test, David Coulthard was separated from the top of the time sheet by just one McLaren. He and Mark Webber both completed a high mileage on a day when track conditions, at least in the morning, improved thanks to a lull in the strong winds that had plagued the previous two days. 

Heikki Kovalainen finished this week's Jerez test fastest as McLaren got even more attention for running a new type of wheel rim cover. Kovalainen finished half a second ahead of David Coulthard and Kazuki Nakajima as Red Bull and Williams continued to show impressive pace.
