Following the launch of the new RA108 at the Honda team's Brackley headquarters earlier this week, the team embarked on a three-day test programme at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. Chassis RA108-01 was the focus of an initial shakedown in Valencia last week in a pre-launch specification, but this week marked the first intensive test programme with the first two chassis, for which race drivers Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button were joined by test and reserve driver Alex Wurz.

The final day of this week's test saw Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen continue the programme of Bridgestone tyre evaluation and reliability confirmation and aerodynamic and set up development work. The team also focused on longer runs with the MP4-23 package, with fewer red flag stoppages at the Spanish circuit.

According to Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone F1 could pull out of Australia after having raced 'Down Under' for the past 25 years. Ecclestone has said Australia is not paying enough and he prefers to host the Australian Grand Prix at night.
